Being Part of a Community Means Giving Back To It

Smithtown, Commack and Hauppauge Patch editors celebrate the 100th site launch by volunteering.

To celebrate Patch's 100th site launch, the Smithtown, Commack and Hauppauge editors teamed up to help the library create centerpieces and assemble giveaways for the adult reading program.  The editors also addressed the library's mailing bulletins and cut bookmarks for an upcoming blood drive.

At Patch, we believe that being part of a community means giving back to it. In addition to devoting editorial coverage to local charities as well as an entire channel of Patch to volunteer opportunities, the company sponsors a "Give 5" program, so that Patch's daily operation can give back to the communities we serve. Through the "Give 5" program, Patch gives five percent of its advertising space, free of charge, to local charities and all Patch editors spend five working days each year volunteering in their communities.
