Smithtown TD Bank Robbed Thursday Afternoon

Robber fled the scene, dropped undisclosed amount of cash.

A robber fled from the TD Bank at 714 Smithtown Bypass with an undisclosed amount of cash at 12:45 p.m. Thursday.

The man, described as black, 30-40 years old and 6 feet 2 inches tall wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans, a fishermen-style hat and glasses, passed a note to a bank teller announcing the robbery, Suffolk County police said. Police are not currently releasing the contents of the note.

The case of money he was given concealed a dye pack, which exploded after the man left the bank, causing him to drop the cash in the Famous Dave's restaurant next to the bank. He then fled the scene.
