Local production of Tony Award-winning musical scores praise for director Rick Lyon and cast.
In a glowing review, Broadway World Long Island recently raved about the latest show to hit the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts, Jeff Whitty's Avenue Q. The musical has won Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Original Score. The local version, directed by Rick Lyon - part of the original Broadway cast - is a "fantastic one" according to reviewer Melissa Giordano. She writes: "Everyone sounded amazing together as well as, of course, individually. They each had their moment as the majority of the cast had multiple characters to play. This was an incredible feat as each of the puppets had distinct personalities and each member of the cast was on point." Read the entire review on Broadway World Long Island., and click …

It has the theater, it has a dozen great restaurants, it has the small town feel and the big commercial space,” he said. “It’s what we want, it was a conscious choice to come here.” While making the decision to open on Main Street, Lavery was aware of the backlash he could encounter for opening a tattoo shop in a largely conservative community. Lavery said this would not be an issue for him or the other artists in the shop and is hopeful the community would accept him once they see what Liberty has …

Tattoo shop opens near Blacksmith Tavern on Terry Road.
Tattoo shops don’t dominate the town business landscape but within the past week two shops have opened – one is Authentic Arts Tattoo in Nesconset.
