First Time Homeowners

As a real estate agent, it is our job to make sure that when working with a client we provide them with knowledge of the market, local inventory that may be of interest, information on mortgage rates etc... But I believe part of the job is to help coach and prepare your buyer or seller, especially first time homeowners.

First time homeowners need to make sure that when purchasing a home, that they set their budget on a home realistically and conservatively.  Even if you a buy a brand new home, there are always things that need to be fixed, or worked on.  The work on your home will never end.  Finish a bathroom, and the kitchen needs to be done.  Finish the kitchen and the sprinklers are broke.  Fix the sprinklers and the roof has a leak.  Replace the roof, and that very first bathroom you finished, needs work again.  It is a vicious cycle.

First time buyers should make sure that they understand, when budgeting their monthly expenses, that there will always be something that needs work on their home, and they need to allow for that spend.  Any realtor that does not help coach a first time buyer through, and help prepare them for what they getting into, is not doing their job.
