10 Local Twitter Accounts to Follow

A virtual "Who's Who" in the local Twitter universe.

Us Patch folk love social media, especially Twitter. It's a great resource for news, information and keeping up on the lives of your favorite celebrities. So who should you follow if you're new to Twitter? Check out these 10 suggestions.

1. @SmithtownPatch – If you're not following us already, you should do so ASAP. After all, we are your go-to source for all things Smithtown.

2. @AmerRoadside – We all know you eat at the restaurant, so why not follow them and see about specials and deals you could take advantage of?

3. @randyaltschuler – Randy Altschuler, a St. James native, is a candidate running for the U.S. Congress in the 1st Congressional District.

4. @TimBishopNY – While not a resident of the town, Tim Bishop has set up an office on Smithtown's Main Street.

5. @1Hardcoremama – If you're not familiar, here is Smithtown resident Maria Cappa's resume: NASM certified Personal Trainer, certified Fitness Nutrition Specialist, a star diamond coach with Team Beachbody and an NPC Figure Athlete with Team Bombshell. She's a local that could whip you into shape in no time.

6 and 7. @MissBluChip and @karincaro – While this is a Bohemia based marketing firm, Karin Caro, a Smithtown resident, is a part of many Smithtown based events and could be seen often in the area.

9. @MercedesBenzLI – Whether you own a Mercedes or not, they post numerous photos and videos of all things Smithtown to enjoy.

Tomorrow is the vote..vote NO NOW or our taxes are going to continue to sky rocket. Unless we doRead More something this town will continue to spiral down. More taxes aren't going to help. We need to cut expenses and get ourselves on a fiscally responsible plan.

Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
