7 Things People Want To See Happen in Smithtown

On Thursday, we asked Smithtown Patch Facebook readers to comment on "What do you want to see happen in Smithtown in 2014?"

Here's their wishes for 2014: 

• Fix the westbound merge on Main St. at Rte. 111. And help the small businesses in town, there's to many vacant stores on Main St.
  
  
• Traffic on Main Street, too many closed businesses. We need more "Family friendly" businesses on Main Street. Perhaps a Trader Joe's. Also, under the area around the Bull needs to be cleaned up--I don't just mean the weeds and landscaping...I also think the strip joint is an eyesore. Just saying...
  
  
•  I would like to see the west bound traffic jams by [Routes] 111 and 25 straightened out and turn lights added where they added the turning lanes along Main Street
  
  
• a K-mart or Walmart
  
  
• Dairy Barn to open back up!!!
  
  
• I would like to see a solution to the traffic on Main Street. As a small business owner of a restaurant our business has been hurt by the slow moving traffic on Main Street especially at lunchtime.
  
  
•  Build Main Street up again. Also, new condos.
