How is Landing Avenue Bridge's Closure Affecting You?

Landing Avenue Bridge closed July 24 for 2-3 weeks to undergo concrete repairs.

Smithtown residents looking to take a dip in the town pools may face a challenge getting there.

Landing Avenue Bridge is closed for the next 2 to 3 weeks as repairs are underway to fix cracking concrete along its underside.

Large, orange detour signs clearly redirect motorists coming from Smithtown onto Edgewood Avenue, while Kings Park drivers are sent down Rose Street and Oakside Road as alternative routes.

Some Patch readers were quick to criticize the bridge's closure at the height of the summer as  the town's Smithtown Landing Pools are located off Landing Avenue.

"Are they closing it 24 hours a day? If so then we will have gridlock as there is few options to get past wonderful downtown Smithtown," commented reader Stan Meyers

We're curious, how is the closure of Landing Avenue bridge affecting your daily travel?  Have you hit traffic and if so, how have you coped?
