How to Save Your Wallet and the Planet with Solar Energy at Smithtown Library

Learn how to help your wallet and the planet with solar energy at the main branch of the Smithtown Special Library District.

With the rise in popularity of going green, the main branch of the Smithtown Special Library District is featuring “Save with Solar Energy” on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the Gillard Meeting Room. Representatives of Smithtown’s Solar Dad and Sons, who will be discussing solar incentives, will lead the program.

“We like to let our patrons know what things are available out there either to help the environment or to help their pocketbooks,” said Susan Mulligan, program coordinator at the library.

Solar Dad and Sons is a renewable energy installation company, who is licensed and insured contractors offering solar PV electric, solar domestic hot water and solar pool heating for residential, commercial and not-for-profit organizations.

They will be discussing how you may be able to save money on making use of solar energy.

“With these sustainable systems, people think in terms of saving money on heat. The sustainable systems also do end up saving you money even during the air conditioning season,” Mulligan said. “It will save you money in all kinds of weather. You will recoup the expenditure of putting these systems in. Not to mention, that you are really helping the greening of America.”

They also will be discussing how to increase the value of your property and possibly qualify for federal and state tax credits by installing a renewable energy system in your home.

“There are tax credits available for using these sustainable systems,” Mulligan said.

This event will provide an opportunity to ask questions about how to help your wallet and the planet.

“For those people that are there, there certainly will be a questions and answers,” Mulligan said.
