Kings Park 'Eyesore' Causes Town to Reconsider Permit Limits
A Kings Park "eyesore" that appears to be abandoned in midst of construction is leaving Smithtown Town officials wondering when to declare a project's time has run out. 

Smithtown Supervisor Patrick Vecchio asked town board members if they are willing to re-examine the how many times a building permit could be renewed. A building permit is often required to legally build, construct or renovate a building or dwelling in the Town of Smithtown.

Auction Pro Closes in Smithtown
Auction Pro, within the Giuseppe's shopping center on Route 111, is now closed.

The store took in items and sold them at auction on eBay. It auctioned everything from handbags and toys to cars.

The store was also one of the few FedEX drop-off locations in the area.

New Card Shop Opens
A discount card and gift store recently opened within the the Village Shopping Center on Route 111, next to Uncle Guiseppe's in Smithtown.

The store features half-off greeting cards, gifts, invitations, balloons, gift bags, wrapping paper and will soon be offering lottery tickets, as well.

New Smoke Shop Rises on Main Street
Blowing onto Main Street Smithtown this month is a new smoke shop that fills the space left vacant by Split Image Photographyback in December 2012.

Sahra Mansouri Afati of Realty Connect USA said Aroma Smoke Shop was supposed to open on June 1 but should grand open by mid-June. Afati said the shop would offer cigarettes, lottery tickets and snacks along with specialty smoke items like hookah pipes, but was unsure if there would be a hookah lounge in the shop. 

Creighton, Vecchio Set up Campaign Offices on Main Street
It appears as though campaign season has arrived early for Smithtown as Supervisor Patrick Vecchio and his challenger town Councilman Robert Creighton have stake out offices on Main Street well ahead of Republican primary for Smithtown's supervisor seat. 

Does Smithtown Main Street Need a Facelift?
Some residents might be in love with the mix of local history and modern storefronts on Smithtown Main Street, others are calling for a facelift. 

Councilman Bob Creighton, a challenger for Smithtown's Supervisor seat this November, is calling for a temporary suspension of the town's fees for downtown businesses and storeowners willing to renovate their facade. 

Cafe Havana Reopens
The Cuban restaurant, located at 944 West Jericho Tpke., underwent an interior transformation including repairs and refurbishments. The eatery now features a newly redesigned bar, an updated dining area and new menu items.

Teen Arrested in Bagel Café Burglary
Police say they’ve found the man who burglarized a Nesconset Bagel Store last week.   

According to police, on May 27, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Mantas Lukosevicius, 17, broke through the side door of the Bagel Café, located at 248 Smithtown Boulevard.
