New Signs Point Way To Smithtown Historical Society

Anonymous donor contributes signs, help pays for historical building renovations.

Two new signs clearly mark and direct visitors to the Smithtown Historical Society's large historical complex and lands off Middle Country Road.

Two new, white PVC signs were erected Friday on Middle Country Road to help great residents as they enter the Smithtown HIstorical Society's 22-acre preserve, Times of Smithtown reports.

One sign leads the way to the historical society's headquarters in the Roseneath Cottage. The other was placed at entrance of the driveway that leads to the Frank Brush Barn, commonly used to host community events and concerts.

The signs were paid for by an anonymous donor, who also contributed to some of the extensive renovations going on at several of the historical buildings on site.

Smithtown resident Greg Krockta, a hand woodcarver, helped carve the historical society's emblem - a broken pediment - into both of the signs over the course of the summer.
