PHOTOS: Desert Highway Draws Record Crowd to Summer Concert Series

The Eagles tribute band set a Dennis Cannataro Family Summer Concert Series record for number of people in attendance Thursday.

Eagles tribute band Desert Highway performed in front of 5,700 people Thursday, a record for the Dennis Cannataro Family Summer Concert Series.

"We blew away last years 25,400 (total attendance) at the library," project supervisor Dave Bermer said. "We're way past that and we still have two shows to go."

Desert Highway was the sixth band to play in the seventh annual concert series, held in the Branch Shopping Plaza parking lot. The concerts were previously held on the front lawn of the Smithtown branch of the Smithtown Special Library District, but were moved to the shopping plaza due to ongoing library renovations.

The tribute band opened with favorites like "One of These Nights" and "New Boy in Town" before breaking into crowd pleasers "Boys of Summer" and "Hotel California."

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
