PHOTOS: Classic Car Owners Show Off Their Rides

A group of classic car lovers meet on Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset weekly to show off their favorite rides.

If you're cruising down Smithtown Boulevard in Nesconset on Monday afternoons you're bound to pass an interesting gathering – a group of men in lawn chairs surrounded by classic cars.

The parking lot outside of  and the former home to the Nesconset Library is the home to a group of car aficionados, but this group does not have a name or a membership. Some members call the group the BLD Club after the restaurant they hang out at in Ronkonkoma, others in the group refer to themselves as the Wolfpack, but what's consistent is the shared passion for decades of automobiles.

The group meets there with permission from the parking lot owner and according to Ron Kuhlman – who shows up with his 1968 Chevy Impala convertible – new members pop up every week.

"We're not a club, we come here to socialize with friends and we grow ... we've got several new cars here, I don't know how they found out about us but found out," he said.

The cars you'll see passing by span many generations and you're bound to stumble upon anything from a 1938 Buick to a 1956 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88, like the one Bob Reuter owns. Reuter boasted about his car Monday, saying it only has 8,500 miles on it and is not restored.

While classic cars are the bonds that formed the group, there’s one other thing the men have in common.

"One of the requirements is you have to be old," Kuhlman said with a laugh.
