PHOTOS: Town to Host Service at Main Street's 9/11 Memorial Park

Members of the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce, Town Supervisor Patrick Vecchio and more will participate in Friday's commemorative service.

Four years after 9/11, the Town of Smithtown, with contributions from more than 20 local businesses, residents and organizations, constructed a memorial park for residents who lost their lives at Ground Zero during the attacks.

With the 10th anniversary of the attacks approaching, the town and Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce will hold a commemorative service at the memorial park remembering those who lost their lives on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The service will feature a Marine Corps. color guard, messages from Town Supervisor Patrick Vecchio and chamber President Robert Mirman, music by local attorney John Zollo, prayers by the Rev. David Regan of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church and Rev. Gary Zarlengo of Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle, and a reading of the names of the 54 residents commemorated at the park by the chamber’s board of directors.
