PHOTOS: Yacht Club Hosts Soliders Fluke Fishing Tournament

More than 70 military personnel hit the water to participate.

The Smithtown Bay Yacht Club hosted its annual “Soldiers on the Sound” Fluke Fishing Tournament Saturday, with more than 70 men and women in the military present.

Of the 33 boats of soldiers that left the Smithtown Marina at 8:30 a.m., “Team Lucky," a team consisting of Captain Paul Schumann and soldiers John Angerame and Curtis Johnson of the 106th Rescue Wing Air National Guardsman, made the winning catch – a fluke that weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces.

Following the tournament was a raffle with 163 prizes handed out, including three grand prizes – a 50 caliber Knight Muzzleloader Rifle with “Soldiers on the Sound 2012” engraved on the barrel, a Curtis 46” LCD television and a Potomac Catalyst 100 Kayak.
