Keeping Kids Busy on Rainy Days

Rain showers have invaded our area Thursday, sending kids indoors and patents looking for ways to keep them busy.

This may be the day to sign your child up for the summer reading program. Readers and pre-readers from 3 years old through the fifth grade can participate .

Kids who complete weekly reads get to dip their hand into the treasure chest for a prize. A ticket to the Nature Nick show, held at the end of the summer, is given to all kids who complete the program. We hear his special guest this year is a jumpy fellow from the land down under..

Teens can hit the teen room to fill their summer reading lists or join the Battle of the Books.

There is still room in Thursday evening's Twinkle Toes class for the one and under set as well as Nature's Nightlights.

Kids can also get started on designing a bookmark for an upcoming contest. Twelve winners will be picked. Contest ends August 17. Entry forms are at the library.
