Reminder: St. James, Smithtown Christmas Parades Set for Saturday

Both parades begin at 5 p.m.

Firetrucks, Santa Clause, some elves and a bunch of firefighters are set to invade your neighborhood with the 32nd Annual St. James Fire District Christmas & Holiday Parade and 33rd Annual Smithtown Fire Department Christmas Parade.

Both parades begin at 5 p.m.

For St. James, the parade will begin at Station One, located at Lake Avenue and North Country Road, and will have two breaks where it will stop to entertain locals: SJFD Station Two, located at located at 221 Jefferson Ave., at approximately 6:20 p.m., and Mills Pond Elementary School at roughly 7:15 p.m.

The Smithtown parade will begin on Elm Avenue and there will be three long stops: first at Redwood Lane near the beginning of the parade, followed by a stop at Meat Farms and lastly close to the middle of the route on Central Road at Smithtown High School West.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
