Sandy-Toppled Trees Still Cover Vacant House

The modern two-story house at 5 Bridle Path Road has been deemed unsafe by the town.

As Long Island leaders are beginning to prepare for the upcoming hurricane season, at least one house in Smithtown still hasn't shaken off the last.

The modern two-story house at 5 Bridle Path Road is still covered in downed trees toppled by Hurricane Sandy, one that has damaged its roof, leading the Town of Smithtown to declare it an unsafe property.

According to town tax records, the property, owned by Alberto Delahoz, carries a nearly $13,000 annual tax bill.

Zillow.com lists the circa-1958 home, which is not for sale, as having three bedrooms and 1,652 square feet total.

Attempts to track down Delahoz were unsuccessful.
