A Smithtown law firm has made an $82,000 donation to support a major expansion of Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital, the hospital announced Friday.
An anonymous donor will match the gift for a total impact of $164,000 for the children's hospital.
Mark S. Eghrari of Mark S. Eghrari & Associates, PLLC, a Smithtown law firm specializing in estate planning, said the services provided at Stony Brook Children's are essential.
“All children are deserving of the opportunity to enjoy a happy and healthy childhood,” he said.
The news comes several days after the late McGraths of Port Jefferson .
Stony Brook Children's is the only dedicated children's hospital in Suffolk County, with 100 pediatric beds, more than 140 full-time pediatric physicians and surgeons in 30 different specialties, and more than 200 voluntary pediatric faculty members.
Eghrari, who lives in Old Field, has also been elected chairman of the Stony Brook Children’s Hospital Task Force, which began in in October 2009 to raise funds and awareness for Stony Brook Children’s.
“I look forward to working with Mark in his new leadership role,” said Dr. Margaret M. McGovern, physician-in-chief of the children’s hospital. “His generosity and commitment to Stony Brook Children’s will help us meet the growing medical needs of children across Long Island.”
Eghrari also serves on the Stony Brook Medicine Development Council, and he and his wife Elizabeth previously made a $25,000 donation to the children's hospital in 2011.
