Smithtown Teens Gather to Discuss Immigration Issues

Smithtown Youth Bureau to host series of community conversations for local teens.

Smithtown teens will be getting together to talk about immigration issues and how they are impacting the town, in the past and today.

Smithtown Youth Bureau will be hosting a series of community conversations for area high school teenagers starting on Jan. 22, from 6 p.m. -7:30 p.m at the Roseneath Cottage on the Smithtown Historical Society's grounds on Middle Country Road.

On Jan. 22, teens will have short readings and open-ended group discussions to explore the feelings and experiences of immigrants to the United States, as well as communities reactions to immigrants.

The conversation will be facilitated and guided so all teens can feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Future conversations will also be held on Feb. 5 and Feb. 12.

To register, contact the Smithtown Youth Bureau at 631-360-7595 or kdevito@tosgov.com
