  • Description: This discussion will entail the group reading a non-fiction sports sport and coming together to discuss the book. This week's book is "Sixty Feet, Six Inches" by Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson.

  • Description: Kicking off the new year this is the Jan. monthly meeting of the library's Smithtown Garden Club.

New Movie Matinee 

  • Time: 1 p.m.
  • Description: Come down to the Nesconset branch of the library to watch a newly released film, this week's film being shown is "Inception."

Lego Club

  • Time: 4:30 p.m.
  • Description: Come down for the January meeting of the Smithtown Lego Club, for children ages two years old and up.

Teen Volunteer Opportunity

  • Time: 7 p.m.
  • Description: Teenagers are encouraged to come down to the library's Teen Volunteer Opportunity where teens can make a craft for seniors or less fortunate children and earn a hour of community service.

Thursday, Jan. 6

Art Starts

  • Time: 11 a.m.
  • Description: This children's program is for ages two-three, who are accompanied by an adult. In this program the children will listen to stories and have an opportunity to paint. Parents are reminded to bring a smock for the children or have them dressed for the occassion.
  • Location: Meeting Room, Nesconset

Terrific Threes Storytime

  • Time: 2 p.m.
  • Description: This program specifically geared for three year olds and an adult includes storytime, music and more.
  • Location: Gillard Meeting Room, Smithtown

Friday, Jan. 7

Wonderful Ones

  • Time: 10 a.m.
  • Description: This is the monthly meeting for the Wonderful Ones program for one year olds and their caregiver. During this program children will be able to listen to stories being read to them.

Starry Nights

  • Time: 11 a.m.
  • Description: This is a children's art program for ages three-five during which children will listen to stories and paint a sky scene just as Van Gogh did.

Saturday, Jan. 8

Creation Station

  • Time: 10 a.m.
  • Description: This is an open play session for children of all ages to come to the libary and participate in making a craft.
  • Location: Children's Room, Smithtown

Yogalates for the New Year

  • Time: 11 a.m.
  • Description: This is the first week of a four week series of Yogalates classes, which is an exercise that combines yoga and pilates.
  • Location: Gillard Meeting Room, Smithtown
