Thousands Hit Lake Ave. for St. James Day [Photos]

Locals enjoy fast and delicious food, speak with politicians, buy random goods and more during Sunday's street fair.

The sun stayed out and the rain managed to stay away until the last hour of Sunday's street fair as thousands of locals lined Lake Avenue for the annual St. James Day. Goods were consumed by attendees from hot pretzels and sweet pickles to t-shirts, jewelry, Halloween decorations and more. For those gearing up for the upcoming elections, Rep. Tim Bishop, D-Southampton, and congressional challenger Randy Altschuler, R-St. James were walking around speaking with constituents.

Check out the gallery of sites from Sunday's festivities.

Nice day overall and I would like to personally thank Geico and LA Fitness for littering the entire area with with flyers on every single car in town. Maybe next time they could have a little class and just rent a space like everyone else. Just as bad as that painting guy (who I won't name) who litters our town with hundreds of signs and then on St James Day parks multiple vehicles along the main road like he's entitled to take space not assigned to him. Another lad I would never do business with!

Your 100% right about the painting guy, his litter on ever corner has got to stop! why would anyone use him.

I was totally disappointed with St. James Day - its become an advertistement for businesses and politicians. Very few REAL arts and crafts anymore. Used to be one of the best Arts and Crafts shows around - but not anymore - I wont be back if this is what it is going to be like. Its a real shame!!!!!!!!!! Get back to ARTS AND CRAFTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's supposed to be a day for local merchants to show off their wares, advertise their products and services and hopefully pick up some new business. Arts and crafts are nice but it's about building local businesses and keeping the doors open. Every local business should be out there showing what they got!!

It's the same here in Northern California. The good crafts people don't bother with the small fairs anymore. The juried shows are the best. Any of those shows in our Long Island area?

@ J.P. Miller.. Why do you feel bad for the residents who live near the proposed catering hall onRead More Edgewood, but don't care that my neighbor and I will have to endure the same if this assisted living facility goes up. Is one a little too close to your backyard ?
P. J. Miller June 18, 2013 at 02:36 pm
Assisted living is a good thing - they are not filled with drunken people, loud music....noise!!Read More Sit in a parking lot of an assisted living you will see that first they are not filled with cars. Honestly, having been through the system with parents and relatives, it is sad what happens to some of the people at assisted living or nursing homes. Relatives just drop them off and never visit. You'll get the occasional visit on maybe Christmas or Mothers / Fathers day, but for the most part they get very little foot traffic. And the people that work there tell the same story. But it is quiet. I would prefer an assisted living over a catering hall any day of the week.

You are absolutely right pj. Its comparing apples to oranges. Assisted living is for the elderlyRead More that cant take care of themselves. What noise is created. They are indoors and at the age where driving may not be an option. And the facility faces Route 25A. A main corridor that has been used as a main road for over 50 years. A road that has gas stations, bars, hospitals, nursing homes, retail stores and high schools presently on it. Why not an assisted living.
