Smithtown West 2013 Graduates Set High Goals for Their Future
Smithtown West's graduates took the final instructions to set their goals high for the future as they tossed their caps into sunny skies above. 

Smithtown West High School held its 98th Annual Commencement Exercise on Thursday night to award diplomas to the more than 400 graduates. 

Contemporary Setting, New Kitchen Planned for Nisen 347
Two stories of sushi will soon hit the Smithtown area as the Nisen group, which has restaurants in Smithtown and Westbury, prepares to open its third location, Nisen 347, at the intersection of Middle Country Road and Route 347.

New Bakery Coming to Smithtown
According to a building notice on the corner storefront of the Morewood Shopping Center, Buon Amici Bakery, will be moving in.

The bakery was granted a building permit at 975 West Jericho Tpke. To make floor alterations to the 3,100-square-foot mezzanine, as well as plumbing an electrical updates.

Corporate Owners Keep Raided 7-Elevens Open
One day after federal agents raided Smithtown area 7-Elevens, shutting one of them down after their owners were arrested on charges of employer abuse, the Terry Road location was back open Tuesday as the corporation took over operations.

Sweet Lucille's Offers Savories Too
The carrot cake is top banana at Sweet Lucille's in Smithtown but their BLT will be bringing you in for lunch too. 

The shop, which opened last October, is known for desserts but now offers breakfast and lunch too. The changes came about at the request of customers.

Handcuffed Man Escapes Police Cruiser on Nesconset Highway

A handcuffed man escaped from the back of a police cruiser late Sunday night, leading officers on a five-hour manhunt through Smithtown streets.

Suffolk County police said officers were bringing a man to Stony Brook University Hospital for a mental evaluation when they came across a motor vehicle accident shortly before midnight on Sunday. The accident was at Nesconset Highway/Route 347 and Plaisted Avenue in Smithtown, ABC Local reported.
