Smithtown West Grad Wins Lax's Tewaaraton Trophy
A Smithtown High School West graduate ended his college career on a high note by winning the 2013 Tewaaraton Trophy, the premiere award in collegiate lacrosse. 

Rob Pannell accepted the award Thursday night  at a ceremony held at the Smithstonian Institute's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.  Pannell plays mens' lacrosse at Cornell University.

Smithtown Summer Concert Series Line Up Set
 The Friends of the Smithtown Library have announced the line up for the Ninth Annual Outdoor Family Summer Concert Series. 

Shows are held on Thursday evenings, starting at 8 on the front lawn of the Smithtown Library Main building.

St. James Attorney Arrested for Alleged International Fraud
A St. James attorney was arrested by federal agents for allegedly taking money from international companies for false advertising services. 

Marijan Cvjeticanin, 49,  is charged with one count of mail fraud. He was arrested by U.S. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security Service at his home on Wednesday morning.

Two Grads Start 128-Mile Walk for Smithtown Nonprofit
Two recent St. John's graduates have started a 128-mile walk from the Brooklyn Bridge to Montauk Point to raise money for a Developmental Disabilities Institute in Smithtown. 

Nathan Holmes and John Kenny started their walk from the Brooklyn Bridge on Tuesday with hopes of reaching Montauk Point by June 4, Newsday reports. 

Police: St. James Robber Nabbed Through Bloody DNA
Blood left at the scene of an armed robbery at a St. James liquor store last October led to the recent arrest of a St. James man.    

Suffolk County police said Daniel Spector entered Liquorium Wine and Liquors on North Country Road in St. James with a rifle at roughly 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2012 and attempted to rob the store. An employee, who thought the gun was fake, hit Spector over the head with a bottle. The blow caused Spector to drop the rifle and flee.
