FEMA Reimburses Smithtown $6.2M for Sandy Cleanup
Smithtown Town officials are eagerly waiting the arrival of a $6.2 million check that will help pay off debts from Hurricane Sandy. 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has agreed to reimburse the town for 90 percent of the $6.9 million Smithtown officials claim was spent on collecting, removing and disposing debris after Sandy, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer's office announced. It does not include rebuilding and restoration funds.

A storefront sits vacant within the Hauppauge Shopping Center along Smithtown By-pass as a former burrito restaurant awaits a new tenant.

The business was once home to a Mexican-style food shop that specialized in burritos, quesadillas, wraps, salads and more.

Tucked away, just adjacent to Branch shopping center in Smithtown is a shop that draws the loyal hobbyists.

3 Guys Hobbies has been around for about 30 years, though not always in their current location. The store carries a host of different hobbyist pursuits but their main game is trains.

Smithtown Man's Attorney Steps Down in Suffolk Police Chief Case
The attorney representing a Smithtown man who accuses Suffolk Chief of Police James Burke of punching him while in police custody has asked to be removed from the case. 

Defense Lawyer Toni Marie Angeli, of Garden City, asked the courts to be relieved from representing Christopher Loeb, 26, once another attorney has been appointed, Newsday reports.  Angeli said she had a conflict.
