Guardians of Rescue to Help Sponsor Food “Distribution Day” in one of America’s Most Dangerous Cities

Camden, New Jersey is known for being one of American’s most dangerous cities, with high crime rates and poverty. It is here that animal aid organizations have gathered to host a “Distribution Day” to supply free pet food, free rabies shots and care packages to pet owners in need.  

The “Distribution Day” will be held this Saturday, June 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brimm Medical Arts High School, located at 1626 Copewood Street in Camden, NJ. Hosted by Animal Orphanage, the event will benefit the students from Chow Hounds, a food bank established and operated entirely by Brimm Medical Arts High School students. Organizations such as Animal Aid USA, the Humane Society of Atlantic County through the American Humane Association, Philadelphia Trucklines, South Jersey Mobile Vets and MOMS have all teamed up to help Camden pet owners.  

Guardians of Rescue, an animal rescue organization based in New York, will be sponsoring a special forum at the event called “Ask the Doc,” which will be held from 11 p.m. to 2 p.m. Guest speaker, Robin Brennen, DVM and founder of Pets Without Vets, will be available to answer any questions that pet owners may have about the health of their dogs or cats.  

“We are proud to head back to Camden to join Animal Aid USA and the many animal welfare organizations involved in this event,” says Robert Misseri, President and founder of Guardians of Rescue. “Statistics show that along with the high crime rate, there is also a high rate of animal cruelty in Camden, as well as people who cannot afford to care for their pets properly,” adds Misseri.

Guardians of Rescue have a number of programs they plan to implement to help the Camden community, including working with the homeless population in order to create a barter system that will help with animal rescue efforts. With this program, homeless people will be given meals and other assistance in exchange for their help in caring for the stray animals.
