Another Rotten Lumber Yard? [Empty in Smithtown]

Former Sider Lumber location crumbles in St. James, leaving a big space to fill in town. Got an idea to replace it?

The sounds of saws and splintering wood haven't been heard in years along Middle County Road, ever since left its longtime St. James hub for newer digs at 45 Southern Boulevard in Nesconset several years ago.

And the spot, which , isn't getting finer with age.

According to Jim Dunn, an agent with Atlantic Property Services, which is listing the property, said he's marketing the parcel as a bundle with an adjacent vacant house and empty former antique auto dealer.

He said he's confident he'll find a buyer.

But in wait, the property stands as another ghost in the area, chained off and crumbling along one of Smithtown's most trafficked arteries.

Because the property abuts a St. James residential area, we at Smithtown Patch wonder what the community would like to see move in to such a large parcel?

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
