Dunkin Donuts to Take Over Vacant Storefront

There is no estimated time on when the chain will arrive.

Smithtown will soon have another place to get their morning coffee fix.

Dunkin Donuts is set to take over the vacant storefront at 665 Middle Country Road in St. James, a construction worker at the location confirmed. The location is nestled between Spanish tapas restaurant Espana, Boris' Barber Shop and the BP gas station on the corner of Lake Avenue and Middle Country Road.

The construction worker at the scene said construction began roughly three weeks ago but there is no estimated time for the work to be completed.

My guess is it will be Dunkin and Baskin & Robbins too.. It's a pretty big location. If so it will take some business away from Carvel across the street.

I bet that will be a great location for them, considering the morning and afternoon rush that goes through that area during the week.

I suppose it will ..I rarely go to any dd.. Better then an empty building.

NIce maybe the owner of Carvel will feel the compitition and become more friendly. I avoid it and travel to the one at vets and 347 because of attitudes I just cant take. Feel bad for the guy that opened his coffee place there this will kill him.

Dunkin Donuts coffee has gone downhill. The one with the better tasting cup of coffee wins.

I agree with David, the attitude of the guy who owns Carvel is definitely in need of some improvement. That being said, a Dunkin Donuts would be a good fit in that location.

I agree - better than having a vacant location - and it does keep the cops coming in and out during the day too! There a secret to making their coffee taste better - I buy their coffee by the pound and if I make it with tap water it sucks - if I make it with my Bottled Spring water WOW what a big difference it tastes like delicious coffee! Tried it few times with a few guests and everyone agrees it is the water that makes the difference!

I agree , DD coffee has gone way down hill .Tastes like coffee grains swished around in hot water .The donuts are awful .McDonald's has better coffee .I am rarely on that road .Always so much traffic .Have never been to McD's or KFC there. I have not eaten KFC in yrs , MY coffee at home is the best . Made with filtered or bottled water as Bill does . Makes a huge difference .

I will look forward to having a Dunkin when I get back in May or June. I remember when my son's dear friend worked at Carvel in the early eighties. I have gone there when I am in St. James and I never encountered anything but friendliness. Maybe my gray hair has something to do with it?

I don't have donuts very often, partly because they are NEVER fresh and they suck! One time when I got home with dozen some of them were actually moldy (you know, the green fuzz, instead of jelly). Can you imagine how many days ago they were made, and still being sold! The people who own and work in these places have no pride nor consciense, they'll feed you anything! By the way, I am not the owner of Carvel, I rarely go there myself!

That's true , George. They are stale. Not like the DD they were at one time.

How about a health store instead of a Obesity One
Candyee February 19, 2012 at 06:53 PM
The reason why I rarely eat donuts , Rich.. or fried foods, Mikey D's , etc ..
Candyee February 19, 2012 at 06:54 PM
But, to each his own .

The roaches need a place to eat and live...
George February 20, 2012 at 12:51 PM
Right on!
George February 20, 2012 at 12:52 PM
You are right, we have to think of animal rights too!

There was a time when a donut shop would through out all their unsold donuts at the end of the day after the employees took what they could eat. They were not allowed to give them away because it would have reflected badly on the quality of the brand. Now they don't really care about what they sell.

Hey Woody, who might that be?
Candyee February 20, 2012 at 05:11 PM
I am enjoying the funny turn this "conversation" has taken . But it's true , the roaches need to eat .. "No donuts for you" lol
