Kitchens and Baths Store Takes Over Vacant St. James Lumber Yard

The vacant lumber yard pulverized by the February blizzard on Middle Country Road will become a kitchens and baths store, and has an expected opening date of May.

A kitchens and baths store will take over the vacant former St. James lumber yard that the latest blizzard destroyed in February.

Jim Dunn, real estate broker with Atlantic Property Services, confirmed Friday evening that a new kitchen and bath store will fill the vacancy, located at 711 Middle Country Road. Dunn said work began at the location Wednesday and is expected to be completed within a month. The real estate broker added that the store should be open for business by May.

John Bongino, director of Smithtown's Building Department, told Patch last week that permits were issued to JJJ Enterprises, LLC, the property owner of the St. James lumber yard, allowing work to begin immediately.

Dunn said the work to repair the exterior of the building should be done in a week or two, and after work is done on the building's exterior the kitchen and bathroom showroom will be built while interiors repairs are made.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
