Memberships for the new gym have already gone on sale as of Aug. 24.

LA Fitness is preparing to open its doors for business on Smithtown's Main Street after nearly nine months of construction.

Bill Horner, a spokesman for LA Fitness, said the company is preparing to open its new location at 122 E. Main Street at the end of September.

The new 45,000-square-foot gym will fill the in the Branch Shopping Center. It's features will include a cardio center, aerobics studio, three raquetball courts, full basketball court, a sauna and whirlpool, according to Horner. Personal training and a Kids Klub babysitting will be available for an additional charge.

LA Fitness began its pre-sale of gym memberships for the Smithtown location on Aug. 24, as salesmen have been seen standing outside the location. The official pre-enrollment center is located at 81 Route 111 in Smithtown.

A grand opening event is in the stages of being planned, but exact details and date are not available yet.

LA Fitness will enter direct  an existing gym in the shopping center who has been there for more than two years.  Other nearby LA Fitness locations include two gyms in Lake Grove and one in Centereach.

Joe you will learn the hard way. The gym is NOT THAT CLEAN. there's no place to change but the bathrooms which are Disgusting most of the time and the time. The music is usually to loud and there no way to change it. i quit about two months right after the day i went to workout straight from work. i walked into the bathroom and the garbage was over flowing, and there were dirty towels all over the floor, NASTY. THE WORST PART is that Snap is not that cheap at 49 bucks a month with no contract. i also heard that since L.A. is coming it been up for sale fo like 90K. i think the owner is trying to get out while he can. he losing a lot of members.

LAFitness did work with other business in the plaza and make arrangements and understanding, so don’t just assume that you know everything that is going on behind the scene, they are scheduled to Open by October 5, they want to make sure everything is in order instead of rushing, what is a few more days of waiting really. The price is $39.99 monthly but can change depending on the different types of memberships they offer but that’s the basic which is good. Most all NY gyms are priced starting at $49.99 and yes that includes Golds Gym that is right there. I think everyone has their own opinion about the gym being added and at least it is adding jobs to the area instead of leaving an empty abandoned building space.

$39 monthly - No special there! I got much lower prices at the other LA Fitnesses in the area. Thought I would wait for Smithtown but I guess I will stick with the lesser known gym I am using now.
