Needing more space to cater to a rapidly expanding clientele has forced Luso Restaurant to move west on Main Street into a the recently vacated home of another popular Smithtown eatery – Sertinos Cafe.
Luisa Batista, owner of Luso Restaurant, an eatery that specializes in authentic Portuguese wood-char barbecue, said that she is confident her restaurant will do well in the 133 West Main Street location despite having two restaurants close there – Sertinos Cafe and Sizzler.
"We've got to take chances in life," she said. "I guess I'm going to do good over there because I have a good reputation, I've been in this business for almost 30 years and I've always been successful ... it's a good location and I'm going to make it work over there."

Batista said the restaurant should be in its new home by March.
Let's cool it on upscale Manhattan wannabees
But this is a long silly season. The new Superman movie will be available only at IMAX for the first two days. Price" $ 37 per ticket ". A family of 4 would be lucky if they shelled out less than $200 for the evening. Popcorn, anyone ?? Bon Appitite.
Lets wish our neighbors good luck in their new location!! Wishing Luso the best in your new location!!
to catch the attention of passing cars, just like IHOP has near Roslyn Heights on Route 25 A . You also need a compamy with resources to let consumers know IHOP is there. For children, you need a menu with food that appeals to children .Now we are talking family restaurant. Expand Luzo's by all means(see E. Baum''s recommendation above), but put it closer to the center of town where all the other up scale restaurants are Why ? Because people are creatures of habit. They will go to the same restaurant srea time and again and avoid those in areas outside the center. If you want a lesson , call Conan o'Brien and Jay Leno and ask them how there ratings did when the crackerjacks at NBC broke a viewer pattern that has been fixed and reliable for the past 40 years. IHOP, by the way, would do well by the train station. It stands out clearly to passing motorists and its reputation for quality food is unquestioned. Once again anyone opening another up scale restaurant must develop a feel for when the marketplace gets saturated. It will be a bumpy ride, but I hope the comments I made prove helpful
Btw... luso has some of the best prices in town and fantastic, simple, fresh food. No chemicals, preservatives, etc... great menu... and they serve food for kids, just ask them! Enough with the ihop guys... but it WAS funny.
I agree with you wholeheartedly!!! Warmest wishes and Best of luck for much success and happiness in the new place Louisa and staff!!! Luso is a very integral part of our Smithtown family!!! and most all, are thrilled to see them expanding! It's too bad there will always be 'jealous and negative' people around... but, even they can express their opinion. I am looking forward to only wonderful things for Luso and I can't wait for their grand opening!!!! It's wonderful little restaurants like Luso that make Smithtown stand apart from other towns!!! GOooooo LUSO!!!!!
We also have Maureen's kitchen which is fabulous for 'breakfast'!
By the way... There were people who were not happy about that wonderful outdoor patio... Let's give Luso our support and enjoy all of the care and love being put intot the new restaurant!
Smithtown has a lot of rules and regulations. Maybe that's why we have such a nice little town.... but they do make it very difficult at times
You remind me of Jack Klugman on the old TV series Qiuincy MEwho took passionate stands on everything. If watching a midle aged guy aegue about everything and anything, then Quincy is right up your alley. Now that Jack Klugman has passed on, you would be an excellent choice for Quincy, should the folks in La La Land every decide to bring it back. But then again, you probably have an argument for this suggestion already. Maybe Charlie Sheen's role on Anger Management but...NAH. It would just inspire another pointless argument.
