Houlihan's Knocked Down, To Become Miller's Ale House

Construction is expected to be wrapped-up on the Lake Grove restaurant by mid-April.

Miller's Ale House is under construction in Lake Grove at the former site of Houlihan's, which was recently knocked down to make room for the popular bar and grill chain.

The news comes after locals suggested the site as a better alternative to Sonic Restaurant's proposal to open in Nesconset, a plan that was rejected by the Town of Smithtown.

Superintendent for RPC General Contractors Bob Grant confirmed the ale house will take over the former Houlihan's location Wednesday afternoon. Grant said the construction began back in November and while the building has been demolished he said work should be completed on the new building by mid-April.

Calls to the Miller's Ale House corporate offices were not returned by time of publication.

The restaurant's website confirms that Lake Grove is one of four locations opening, one of two locations in New York, and the only new location on Long Island. While the location of the management position was not listed, the company also announced its looking to hire a restaurant manager.
