Cyrus Place, the English pub-style restaurant on East Main Street that sits ready for customers in lieu of some final permits, will not be opening, according to owner Cyrus Kabir.
"A whole bunch of stuff kind of surfaced" over the weekend, Kabir said, amounting to a bleak outlook for the establishment he conceived as a mixture of his own life's international influences. He said he could not supply any details until he meets with his lawyer today, but said that the issues which arose are significant and could mean that the project is halted for good.
He called the news "devastating."
Smithtown Patch first profiled the restaurant last week, and in response locals jumped in on social media and in the article comments to share excitement for the coming eatery.
