Popular Stony Brook Village Eatery Closes Due to Eviction

Rockwell's Cuisine Concepts, which took the home of the Brook House, shuttered last week.

The eatery that filled the space of the former Brook House in Stony Brook Village has shuttered due to an eviction from the property’s management company.

Brian Doyle, an attorney from Farrell Fritz, which represents the Ward Melville Heritage Organization and Eagle Realty Holdings, said Rockwell Cuisine Concepts failed to follow the terms of their lease, which expired in June. According to Doyle, a judge ruled that Rockwell Cuisine Concepts had not properly exercised the option to lease and so they were denied the option to renew.

The Brook House traded hands in Oct. 2010 when Rockwell Cuisine Concepts opened in the space, even though the name above the door still reads Brook House.

Doyle said the Sheriff’s office was completing the eviction Tuesday.

“They closed doors within the last week,” said Doyle. “The eviction is being finalized today.”

The future of the space, which has a long history in the village as a family favorite spot, will not be settled until the property is formally in the hands of Eagle Realty Holding.

“We want to complete the eviction first before talking to prospective tenants,” said Doyle.
