"It’s something fun for the community. The owner is big into having a fun
night and having the community come out," said Helena Ludrosky, a spokeswoman for Del Fuego.
Ludrosky said last year's contest winner managed to eat 13 tacos in under 5 minutes.
"They are pretty decent sized tacos, there’s a lot of food on
there," she said.
This year, the stakes have increased. The person who manages to eat the most tacos in the allotted time will win $100 cash prize, second place will take home a $50 gift card to Del Fuego, and third place will win a $25 gift card.
This year's competition is being sponsored by Milagro Tequila, according to Ludrosky. The bar will offer special cocktails featuring the tequila throughout the night.
"We are expecting about 25. Right now we have about a dozen people signed up," Ludrosky said.
The contest is $10 for adults and $5 for children under age 5. Those interested can register in person at the bar. All participants will get a free T-shirt.
