Three-Car Crash Shuts Down Vets Highway Wednesday Morning

Suffolk County police say no serious injures despite car crashing over median divider.

A three-car crash shut down a portion of Veterans Memorial Highway on Wednesday morning.

Suffolk County police say Fourth Precinct officers responded to a 911 call at 9:50 a.m. that a car has sailed over the center median of Veterans Highway causing an accident in the eastbound lanes.

Police said a man driving westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway lost control of his vehicle, going over the concrete median and into oncoming eastbound traffic near Willet's Path intersection.

Both drivers were transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

In the crash, one of the vehicle's metal bumpers came flying off and struck a third vehicle. Police said the driver of the third vehicle was not injured.

The eastbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Highway were closed for rough an hour on Wednesday morning following the accident.
