Uncle Giuseppe's Thanksgiving Dinners See Boost in Sales

The supermarket chain cannot yet say if the growth in popularity is due to families still recovering from Hurricane Sandy or from increased promotions.

If you live by an Uncle Giuseppe's location and are in a rush to get your Thanksgiving dinner together, the supermarket chain is offering pre-cooked and prepared to customers.

Catering orders will be accepted until Monday at 7 p.m.

While there is a 7 p.m. deadline, Manager of Corporate Communications for Uncle Giuseppe’s Arielle Brechisci said stores will do their best to cater to customers that cannot make the deadline but want to purchase dinner packages.

Brechisci said this year has been busier than the past two years they have been offering the dinner packages. While it has been busier Brechisci said she cannot yet attribute it's popularity to business growth or how locals are reacting to food spoilage in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

"This is are third year in a row doing it and we always get excellent feedback, [but] it's possible that it's because of the hurricane," she said. "And it's [also] possible that people just want to buy it from us."

Brechisci said they've done more promotion for the dinner packages this year than in years past, specifically with the introduction of "bag stuffers," which includes a full-color, glossy Thanksgiving menu given to customers at the register for the past three weeks.

The menu includes 18-20 pound herb roasted turkey or a 10-pound sliced herb roasted turkey breast, as well as different choices of appetizers, pastas, soups, vegetables, potatoes, stuffing and desserts.

While available at all five locations, Brechisci said the most Thanksgiving dinner package sales are coming from the Smithtown and Port Jefferson Station locations.
