Villa Napoli Pizzeria Shuts, Restaurant Gutted [Empty in Smithtown]

Local staple vanishes from its West Main Street storefront.

One of Smithtown's most recognizable pizzeria and Italian restaurants has closed up shop, leaving another vacancy in an area where empty storefronts outnumber working ones.

This week closed its doors and practically gutted the 82 West Main Street shop. A visit to the storefront on Friday showed the place had been mostly emptied, with numbered pieces of paper taped to the few fixtures that remained. The ovens and all the dining room furniture was gone.

The answering service for the shop's phone number also seemed to be turned off on Friday.

Denise Fleischmann of We Buy Gold, which she runs right next door to Villa Napoli, said owners emptied out the pizzeria on Wednesday.

With Villa Napoli gone, We Buy Gold is now the only shop left in 82 West Main Street. .
