More Lost Letters...

These letters to the editor didn't quite make the cut at the Smithtown News:

Letter 1:

This letter is in response to The Smithtown News article titled “Electorate should be ready for mud to fly.”  The Editorial is incredibly hypocritical and biased and I am wondering if Mr. Ambro even realizes the irony.

The article warns the reader of the imminent “mud to fly” in the coming days.  All the reader needs to do is flip to the back page to see it is already here.  In fact, it has been here for several weeks.  Ambro is so clearly one-sided in his “reporting” it looks as though Supervisor Vecchio has found a new Communications Director.

Mr. Ambro warns his readers of the mudslinging that is about to occur, and he is right to do so. All who read any article written by David Ambro regarding the Smithtown Supervisor’s race has been, and will be, reading vicious and biased slander of Councilman Bob Creighton, and should be wary of what they take as fact or fiction from The Smithtown News.

Therein lies the irony Mr. Ambro.  It seems you thought you were giving warning of the opposition but in fact it is a self-proclamation.

Letter 2:

I am writing in response to the July 31st Newsday article “Candidate urges industrial park expansion.”  It seems that Councilman Creighton gets it.  Our town is becoming a business wasteland and we are losing untold amounts of money in tax revenue and the burden is falling onto the taxpayer to make up the difference.

As for Supervisor Vecchio saying this is “not a new idea” well…therein lies the problem.  Mr. Vecchio has not done anything to move the ball up the field!  It is not enough to talk about it, you actually have to get it done.

And Councilman McCarthy’s statement is just plain ridiculous.  He is accusing Mr. Creighton of pandering?  Does he think our memories are that short?  It was only weeks ago where he stated in the Smithtown News that he and Supervisor Vecchio will not approve the Uplands project.  That was not pandering?  What is more insidious about Mr. McCarthy’s accusation of pandering on Mr. Creighton’s part is that his pandering has opened the town to a lawsuit Smithtown will surely lose.
