More Than 30,000 Power Outages in Smithtown

There are 41,628 LIPA customers in the Town of Smithtown.

Hurricane Sandy hasn't quite brought all of her strength to the Town of Smithtown yet but nearly the entire town is without power.

As of 6:30 p.m., LIPA has reported 30,142 homes are in the dark. There are a total of 41,628 LIPA customers in the township.

Specifically in Smithtown, St. James, Nesconset, Head of the Harbor, Village of the Branch and Nissequogue, there are 20,275 outages. Here is a breakdown of what areas are missing power:

  • Smithtown – 5,950
  • St. James – 5,819
  • Nesconset – 4,120
  • Village of the Branch – 2,251
  • Head of the Harbor – 1,064
  • Nissequogue – 1,071

Throughout Suffolk County there are 278,114 outages.
