I believe some people forget the human element of all of these LIPA workers continuing around the clock. Thank you so much for all the dangerous work you do..

What, You think they're doing it for free? Spare me. It's their job.
smithtownmom November 8, 2012 at 01:09 pm
it's their job, seriously! they are people too. it's not the job of the people of Michigan, Colorado and Texas to fix the power in Long Island in NY after the wake of Hurricane Sandy and now working during a Nor 'Easter. This was mother nature and thi storm was out of our control. These men have left their families to come help us. Yes, they are getting paid, but why shouldn't they. I certainly don't know how to fix what needs fixing and we need them. Im grateful they decided to come help. What was within our control is that trees should be proactively pruned and removed (if not healthy) to minimize all the damange and destruction. Obviously, there are trees that are uprooted and caused unforseeable damage but as homeowners we also need to proactively take a look at what's on our property & LIPA needs to do the same. I too was without power for quite some time. It was a huge inconvenience but at least I still had my home - something many people don't - and, for that my annoyance turned to gratefulness.

Today is day 10 of no power. Have not seen a LIPA truck yet. Tree trucks have been sitting doing nothing around the block from my house. I have no sympathy! Can't even get through to LIPA.

THANK YOU LIPA & CREW FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK & DEDICATION...I lost power 3 times but I know how hard you all are working and all the long hours. It has been non- stop.!! Nothing can more worst then all those families who lost there homes and some who lost there lives!! Be thankful & God Bless!!.
Harry November 8, 2012 at 03:03 pm
Yes, they are people who are "DOING THIER JOB!"
As for the workers from out of town, Do you actually think they would come here if it wasn't worth thier time? $$$$$ CHA-CHING$$$$!!!!! Now watch our rates go up! LIPA should be wiped clean!
Pam November 8, 2012 at 04:54 pm
These men and women from all the crews are busting their humps for us. Be grateful. Many left their families and traveled many miles to get us back on the grid.

I too, want to express my thankfulness to both Lipa and the esteemed Town of Smithtown Highway dept. As a former resident, but currently working in the Kings Park/St James area, the damage that i have seen in the area (Dorothy Ln WOW !) is just unbelievable. I understand the frustration, but i truly believe everyone is doing the best they possibly can in view of the work load. And again today, they are plowing and sanding the roads, so you can get to where you need to be (a gas station?) As to any monitery gain, these are men (like my son, who works in Nassau Co.) who have left their families in the dark, to serve you. They deserve any and all that they receive, but especially your appreciation . They have mine !

You must be my neighbor!

I still have no power, but I am grateful for the workers, i saw "non Lipa" Trucks working in the snow on my way home from work in the crappy weather. So big money or not these guys are doing there job Understand the process and that these men are the "grunts", its their higher ups who need to be slapped and/or fired! The workers arent even getting the proper communication from their incompetent bosses. So do not hate on them, we need them, and should be thankful for their sacrifices, but to the head honchos at LIPA-You SUCK!

You people are CLUELESS!
Must have family members working for LIPA. A LIPA exec. has admitted that they have no idea what they are doing. There are out of town crews who can turn the power on and LIPA says "NO"
Barbara November 8, 2012 at 09:15 pm
Amen! you said it all
Barbara November 8, 2012 at 09:17 pm
there have been guys from Quebec working on 111

Two weeks for me w/o power I I've never seen a LIPA truck. Even while I sit on a gas line for a half hour. The out-of-state crew working in my area tells me; "they've never seen such a backwards wiring of an electric grid". LIPA knuckleheads!
Harry November 11, 2012 at 04:28 pm
Funny how no one has anything to say about my "NEGATIVE COMMENTS".
I guess the reason is that they all came to fruition.

You are absolutely right pj. Its comparing apples to oranges. Assisted living is for the elderlyRead More that cant take care of themselves. What noise is created. They are indoors and at the age where driving may not be an option. And the facility faces Route 25A. A main corridor that has been used as a main road for over 50 years. A road that has gas stations, bars, hospitals, nursing homes, retail stores and high schools presently on it. Why not an assisted living.
P. J. Miller June 18, 2013 at 10:06 pm
Exactly. Don't see a problem having it. Many of them don't even go outdoors.
Lilly June 19, 2013 at 09:05 am
We have an assisted living center right next to our neighborhood. For the most part it is quiet,Read More there is not a lot more traffic, it even looks nice. I will take it over another strip mall, supermarket, bar any day . Like the previous poster wrote, it serves our community.
