PHOTOS: Politicians, Firefighters Unveil St. James 9/11 Memorial Park

Locals took in the ceremony which featured speeches from local politicians, firefighters, religious figures and more.

The 9/11 memorial park at the St. James Fire District substation on Jefferson Avenue was officially unveiled Sunday in front of hundreds of locals.

Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick, R-Smithtown, Legis. Lynne Nowick, R-St. James, Suffolk County Treasurer Angie Carpenter, Town Supervisor Patrick Vecchio, and more spoke to the hundreds of locals in attendance.

To honor the victims of the attacks, family members of those who lost their lives at Ground Zero, political figures and firefighters rang a bell, followed by prayers from local religious figures.
