PHOTOS: Roof Collapses at Vacant Lumber Yard

The sides of the former home to Sider Lumber on Middle Country Road in St. James is being held up by multiple pieces of wood.

The blizzard has taken its toll on the roof of the AMF Smithtown Lanes, and now it appears to have done something similar to a vacant St. James lumber yard.

The former home to Sider Lumber, located at 711 Middle Country Road, now has its side propped-up on pieces of wood with the roof caved in, visible from the roadway. Smithtown's Building Department has labeled the building as "unsafe" and prohibits any occupancy.

Sider Lumber left St. James for its new home at 45 Southern Boulevard in Nesconset years ago, and according to Atlantic Property Services agent Jim Dunn, the property is being marketed as a bundle with an adjacent vacant house and empty former antique auto dealer.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
