Week in Review: Local Eatery Under New Ownership

There is a new member of Smithtown’s  ownership, but for those who frequent the eatery the face is a familiar one. Karen Nustad, a Smithtown resident who has worked at the eatery on-and-off for 11 years, has changed from an employee to a co-owner, alongside longtime owner Chris Jehle.

While June 20 is the official first day of summer, Main Street's  owner Gio Chiarelli said summer began April 15 in Smithtown when he opened his doors for business.

Police said the father of a 4-year-old boy abandoned him and fled arresting officers after the man he was riding with got pulled over for driving under the influence of drugs.

The  proposed a policy involving alcohol and breathalyzer tests during Tuesday's Board of Education meeting, a policy the board of education will vote on May 22.

When current Bayport-Blue Point Superintedent Anthony Annunziato takes over for the following this school year he will make more than his predecessor. 

An contract agreement has been reached between  and the Smithtown Teachers' Association, but one community member questioned Tuesday night if the district would be saving money with the new agreement.

What was once a popular drive-thru deli is no longer as the doors on The Barn on Main Street have been closed since early February.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
