Booming Business Prompts Local Consignment Shop to Expand
Open barely a year, MS CUREiosity's Closet has already outgrown its digs and has just opened in a larger space on Lake Avenue.

Manager Lisa Geraci the store was doing so well, they needed to expand.

Checkers Closes At Smithtown/Lake Grove Border
The Checkers drive-in burger shop in Lake Grove has closed less than one year after it opened.

As of Friday morning, all of the signage at the chain burger joint were removed, the inside had been largely gutted and a handwritten is sign reading "this location is closed" hung on the door.

Town Gets $200K More for 2013 Highway Road Program
Smithtown Town officials voted to accept more than $200,000 in additional state funds to help with the repaving and fixing of 8 additional streets this year. 

Smithtown Town board voted to expand the 2013 Highway Road Program due to a 28 percent increase to the state’s Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program for 2013-14 fiscal year. The additional $229,318.67 in funding will be used to repave eight streets.

Local cabinet maker Glenn Schneider found the peace and charm of an unused farm stand known as Bull Run Farm the right locale to hang his shingle.

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Ale House
The signs and siding are up at the newest Miller's Long Island Ale House Restaurant in Lake Grove, as the pub chain nears its May opening.

The restaurant initially pushed back the grand opening due to delays getting building approvals. 

Town Seeks New Garbage Contractors
Smithtown officials may have to accept bids from Jody Enterprises for a new garbage-carting contract despite two of its employees facing criminal charges for fraud. 

The town will begin soliciting bids June 19 for new residential solid waste collection and disposal contractors for all 12 of its solid waste districts. Its current contracts for trash pickup and collection expire on Dec. 31, 2013.
