Patch reported  that Town of Smithtown officials said its necessary for Smithtown Building and Public Safety employees to inspect . 

Tuesday, Patch cameras captured images of the homes in question.

Town of Smithtown officials agreed Tuesday that its necessary for them to take action on abandoned properties in the area.

Town officials have been working since last year . 

Supervisor Patrick Vecchio said residents' phone calls alerted him to the need to take more immediate action in dealing with these blighted properties. 

As rising dissent began to take over the , a repeating question has emerged: Why isn't the vacant Houlihan's the target and not the last patch of grass on the built-out stretch of Route 25?

Right now, Houlihan's sits on the corner closest to the Middle Country Road and Moriches Road intersection in Lake Grove, directly across from the Smith Haven Mall Entrance. The location is in the DSW Plaza at Lake Grove shopping center with other thriving businesses, such as Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Lens Crafters and DSW. Houlihan's is woefully empty and surrounded by parking.

Insignia Steakhouse owners are hopeful that newly revised plans to expand their parking lot strike an ideal compromise with the Town of Smithtown and area residents. 

Insignia Steakhouse, owned by Anthony Scott, presented revised plans to expand the restaurants parking lot by more than 75 stalls after more than three months of meetings with elected officials and residents. 

A new building that has stirred local curiosity on the corner of Terry Road and Route 347 is quickly taking the shape of a new 7-Eleven.

Employees in the Town of Smithtown's Planning Department confirmed Monday that a new 7-Eleven is being constructed on the northwest corner of Terry Road and Route 347 in Smithtown, opposite Walgreens.

A Smithtown mototcyclist was killed after crashing into another vehicle Monday moring on Landing Avenue in Smithtown.

According to Suffolk County Police, Francis Stanuch, 40, was driving a 2012 Honda motorcycle northbound at 8:05 a.m. when he struck a 1990 Ford driven by Eric Gismervik and was ejected from the motorcycle. Police said Gismervik was driving southbound on Landing and was attempting to make a left turn onto Oakside Drive when Stanuch collided with his vehicle.

Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
