Week in Review: Murder-Suicide in St. James, E. Northport

An East Northport man killed his ex-girlfriend and mother of his child on Monday, before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Just one day after the , a St. James mother of a 13-month-old boy who police said was stabbed by the father of the child, the community is tight-lipped on the tragic situation that took the life of one of its neighbors.

A Port Jefferson man was arrested in connection to multiple burglaries in Head of the Harbor. Arlindo DaCruz, 31, was arrested on two counts of second-degree burglary charges and criminal possession of stolen property after admitting to Suffolk County police that he broke into a house on Rhododendron Road in Head of the Harbor on two separate occasions, according to police.

While firefighters  a week ago, the cause has not yet been determined, police said Monday. Police said the investigation into the fire and death is ongoing.
