The Hilltop Center on West Main Street is missing a once familiar business – . The now defunct Smithtown location of the eatery – known for its quick and tasty chicken, ribs, sandwiches, burgers and sides – was once a prominent food business among other local fast food chains and restaurants, from  across the street to  on the corner next to the strip of stores. Now the lights are off and the sign on the awning is reversed.

With , students from both Nesconset and Mills Pond Elementary took a trip to see the schools they would attend in the next school year. Mills Pond students took a bus to see St. James Elementary while six bus loads of Nesconset students travelled to see Mills Pond. During their respective trips students and teachers participated in acitivites to acquaint themselves with each other.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
