Week in Review: New Businesses Hit Route 111

East students connect with other students in Japan, and a local business is moving – but not far.

Despite a struggling economy and ample empty storefronts throughout the town, two new businesses opened to the public this past week on Route 111 – and .

Haidee Ganz-Bonhurst, a certified physical therapist and athletic trainer at Metropolitan Physical Therapy East for 17 years, opened to offer a different dessert choice to locals – a low-calorie, low-carbohydrate, low-sugar ice cream, made with skim milk.

, owned and operated by Stephanie and Marc Oliva, look to heal the body and provide proper body maintenance at their new location, which opened Friday.

In school news, who are participating in "Picture My Life," a project consisting of photographs from the students that tell their story of everyday life, and then share them with students in Japan via Skype.

In other business news, , but not moving far as the Lake Avenue business will stay on the same street, just moving north to a larger location. The move is expected to be complete by January.
