Week in Review: Superintendent Search Begins; Blight in Your Neighborhood

Totals from the Second Annual 5K Run/Walk for Pat Harmon come in, and unemployment improves slightly.

During Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting, the board announced they would use the services of Western Suffolk BOCES to find a replacement for current Superintendent Edward Ehmann, who is set to retire in June 2012.

Continuing with our coverage of how the Town of Smithtown is handling local blighed properties, we spoke with town officials about how residents can report a property they would deem blighted.


The run took place last Sunday but the totals from donations started to come in this week, with early reports showing more than $15,000 raised for the American Cancr Society.


Patch reported Thursday that unemployment for the Town of Smithtown in September showed a slight improvement over last year's rate.
