Week in Review: Tattoo Shops Arrive, Mandee Leaves

Main Street will have one less vacant storefront as Liberty Tattoo Company is set to take over the former .

Tattoo shops don’t dominate the town business landscape but within the past week two shops have opened – one is Authentic Arts Tattoo in Nesconset.

Signs went up in the windows of the former  home in Branch Shopping Plaza . This week workers put up fences around the building indicating construction is ongoing.

While there aren't an abundance of fast food restaurants throughout Smithtown, one location never had the chance to sling burgers to fries to locals. The cash registers, grills and deep fryers were never turned on at Wendy's on West Jericho Turnpike, next to . What was supposed to be a home to the fast food giant is now a haven for graffiti, the makings of a cesspool and weeds, caged-in by a locked chainlink fence.

Less than one week after closing, the former home to Mandee on West Main Street is bare, as if the store was never there. The only remnants of the chain are the stained letters left from the sign from years of weather beating down on the awning.
